Cafe Bedda

Katrina Kilsby

Katrina Kilsby began cooking professionally after being inspired by the meals and chefs she encountered while travelling through Europe. Her subsequent training was primarily based in classical French cuisine, with her apprenticeship taking place in Melbourne at Le Gourmet and Rogalskys, as well as some time at a restaurant in the German Alps. Katrina has been head chef at Onions and Downstairs at Eric's, and in 1995 became Executive Chef of Epicure Catering.

After five years with Epicure Catering, Katrina changed direction and began cooking for small groups on a prestigious charter yacht around the Mediterranean. Returning to Melbourne in 2005 she opened Café Bedda with partner Joe Vacirca, serving a small menu of daily changing Casalinga style dishes, which draw inspiration from her extensive travels.

The Age describes Café Bedda as a 'perfect little local Italian with old-style service and approachable and interesting food'.
